Primary Responsibilities & Duties:
The Houston Astros Baseball Club is scouting for a Summer 2008 Baseball Operations Intern.
This intern will assist with general administrative and clerical duties which include answering phones, filing, faxing, copying, organizing archive files, sorting mail internally and helping with staff mailings. The selected individual will copy and distribute statistics weekly and assist with playoff preparation and other special projects/reports as needed. This intern will also support with meeting preparations, work comp and player insurance, ceremony preparation, free agent preparation, draft preparation, and airport and doctor visits. This intern will assume additional roles on an as needed basis and must be proficient in MS Office Suite, with a concentration in Excel. Fluency in Spanish is PREFERRED.
To receive this internship:
You MUST be eligible to receive college credit for the experience as this is a credit-only internship.
You MUST be able to facilitate your own housing here in Houston.
This internship will begin June 15, 2008 and conclude in August.

Primary Responsibilities & Duties:
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of two (2) years sales experience in ticket operations or other athletic administration capacity; HOWEVER career changers with a successful track record in sales and sales management in another industry are strongly encouraged to apply
A basic familiarity with computerized ticketing systems, ideally Ticketmaster
A minimum two (2) years of experience managing others within a ticket department
Demonstrated leadership skills and qualities
Excellent time management skills.
Ability to manage and execute numerous tasks in a demanding environment.
Customer service attitude.
Outstanding communications skills.
4-year college degree
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs of Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for the overall management of the day-to-day operations of the ticket operations.
Management of game day operations for home events
Prepare financial reports and audits of revenue for management review
Staff hiring, training and development
Ticket sales accounting
Providing ticketing reports as requested by BVC Sports & Entertainment and the MISL league office
Implementing all policies and procedures for the department as handed down by the executive team
Prepare monthly sales commission report
Assist with sponsorship ticket fulfillment
Other duties as may be assigned

SUMMARY: The person in this position is responsible for selling and administering corporate partnerships for the Orlando Sharks and other BVC Sports & Entertainment properties. This position reports directly to the Sharks team president/VP of BVC Sports & Entertainment.
This position researches partnership opportunities, crafts and presents pitches and closes fully integrated and mutually-beneficial corporate partnership agreements with local, regional and national companies consisting of radio advertising, in-arena signage, promotions, publication advertising, tickets, suites and other advertising, promotional and hospitality opportunities. This position develops added value opportunities and market activation programs with our corporate partners.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Prospects and identifies corporate partnership leads and prepares and presents proposals to corporate decision-makers.
Ensures that all team and arena initiatives, strategic plans and programs from the marketing, ticket sales, fan development, community relations, game operations and broadcasts are maximized.
Works to ensure that all elements included in each agreement are delivered in a first class manner in accordance with the provisions of the partnership agreement and that our partners are maximizing all cross-selling and cross-promotional opportunities.
Manages expense budgets related to the implementation and execution of certain corporate partnership agreements.
Prepares weekly sales reports and delivers it to team president.
Works closely with other departments within the organization on corporate partner-related programs including game entertainment, community relations, public relations, ticket sales, soccer operations and arena operations.
Support the Sharks mission, vision and values by exhibiting excellence, competence, innovation, respect, and commitment to our community, fans, partners, co-workers, and ownership.
Performs any other duties as assigned by the team president.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility at or above a satisfactory level as set by the team president. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and or ability required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must meet the following minimum requirements:
Minimum of (5) years of successful sales experience.
Must be knowledgeable in the practices and principles related to the sale and implementation of effective corporate partnerships.
Ability to respond swiftly and effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints from a variety of constituencies.
Ability to develop strong working relationships with corporate partners, co-workers, and other organizations.
Must be a self-motivated team player that has the ability to focus on both team and individual revenue goals and objectives.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be creative, well-organized, possess a strong work ethic, desire to excel and willingness to learn.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
Ability and willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays as needed.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: College degree or equivalent is required. 5 years of progressive sales experience and success is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as very strong interpersonal skills are required. The abilities to work independently, and to establish and manage priorities, is a must.
